Welcome to the home of Control Freaks.

In May of 1993, a crew of four Florida International University communication students began production on a student project to be called Control Freaks. The idea for the project originated from director Anthony Sanlino and writer Luis Fuentes.

The idea began as a drama about two college students interested in film-making while fighting over the female lead of their film.  The love triangle poisons their friendship and their film.  We wanted to explore the coexistence between fantasy and reality.

After casting the project with non-actors, it was decided that the tone of the film would need to be altered from dramatic to comedic with excellent and unexpected results.  It felt as if the movie gods were looking down on us.

Having only video cameras at our disposal, we tried our best to make it film-like in tone.

Actors were encouraged to find their own voice from what was written on the scripted page.  Some ad-libbing occurred and we found that this would now take the story in new directions.
